Is My Dream Home Registry Free?

It's your registry, who wants to see a bunch of advertisments everywhere? All resources on the site are free, including building your own registry, so go ahead and try it out!

  What stores does My Dream Home Registry represent?

My Dream Home Registry does not represent any stores!  We also do not accept money from advertisers or try to otherwise influence your pruchasing decisions.  Gift funds collected in your registry are sent right to you!  You can then purchase the items you need from any retail store, vendor, or contractor you choose!  Complete freedom, no returning gifts, and all for less than the cost of shipping and tax for a traditional registry.  Plus you get to stay home!  Save the hassle, it really doesn't get any better.

  Do we need a designer or builder to use My Dream Home Registry?

A designer or builder is not a prerequisite for using My Dream Home Registry. It is recommended as a professional in the field can save large amounts of time and money, but not necessary. The cost of a designer can also be added to your registry!

  What if we don't have pictures of everything?

Not a problem- we have an awesome image gallery for you to choose pictures from that can represent your ideas!  Kristin Hannah, a well-known designer featured on HGTV has helped select images that can be used as unique representation of what you're trying to accomplish for your home.  It's easy to add and take away pictures from your registry later.  For example if you haven't selected your paint colors yet, you could use this picture.  

  My guests and I are ouside the US. Can I still use My Dream Home Gift Registry?

Absolutely!  My Dream Home Registry is available almost anywhere.  However, ALL transactions are handled in US Dollars.  Credit Cards will be charged in US Dollars and when your money is sent to you, it will also be in US Dollars.  If you live outside the US, we do not mail checks but will send your funds via Paypal.  It's quick and easy and you can exchange your funds at that time.     

  Can we use My Dream Home Registry as a place for information to our guests?

Absolutely!  We mean it when we say you can customize your own registry. You can write personalized notes to your guests informing them of your plans and even upload your own pictures!  You can customize it almost any way you choose! 

  How do our guests know we are registered with My Dream Home Registry?

Once you complete your registry set up you can email all your friends and family an annoucement from your Member Control Panel or you can add your registry link to your existing event website!  Or our personal favorite, we can send you free (yes we said free) enclosure cards to hand out or put in your invitations.  Here is what they look like:

    

  What happens to our personal information?

My Dream Home Registry does not share or sell your personal information or that of your guests. We don't try to "sell" anything to your guests either. The format is very professional and straight-forward. Click here to view our Privacy Policy.

  What is the Member Control Panel?

Once you go through the easy four steps to set up a registry you will have access to The Member Control Panel. In this private area just for you, you will be able to do numerous things such as:

• Edit your registry- add more rooms, pictures, text, money needed, etc. 
• Send your registry to friends
• See who has contributed- and the remaining units needed
• Withdrawl your funds
• View your withdrawls- when you requested them and where they are
• Participate in forums with others building and designing their dream homes to get ideas, suggestions, etc.

  How do our guests make contributions?

When guests visit your registry they will first see your home page. There they will be able to select any room in your home from the menu bar on the left.  At the bottom of each page is a link for “contribute to this room.” There, your guests will be able to purchase any number of $10 gift units using any major credit card as well as leave a message for you.  You'll receive an email notification each time someone contributes.   

  What happens if our guests only want to spend a small amount?

No problem!  Your guest can buy units per room starting at $10. They can buy as many or as few units as they would like. The amount of individual contributions cannot be seen by other guests, only by the register.

  How do we know when contributions have been made?

You as the "register" can visit the My Dream Home Registry website to see a status report whenever you choose! Your guests contribute to each "area" or room in your home by purchasing "units". When someone contributes units to a room we will send you and the gift giver an email confirmation.

  Why shouldn't our guests just send us cash?

Most guests like to feel that their money was put towards something you needed. You can use My Dream Home Registry to show your guests exactly how they are helping you. They can be a part of the entire building and designing process...way better than sending you two plates of china! Just think how your guests will feel when visiting you after the registry. They can sit in the very rooms they contributed to and see the ideas that only existed in your registry just a short time ago!

  How long can we have My Dream Home Registry open?

You can keep your registry open for as long as you like!  You are in complete control of your registry at all times. Some users like to use their registry to post "after" pictures of their rooms.  You also have the option of deleting your entire registry any time you choose.  You're in the driver's seat. 

  What happens if our event gets cancelled?

You can terminate the registry at any time.  From the Member Control Panel you have the ability to delete your entire registry.
